(In collaboration with Professor Itaru Hamachi, Kyoto University, Japan and Professor Akio Ojida, Kyushu University, JAPAN)
It is a small world locating between
chemistry, nanotechnology, and biotechnology. Knowledge of chemistry
and nanotechnology are used for construction of subnano-scaled or
nano-scaled sensors, which are useful for life phenomena and
measurement analysis. Our on-going research i.e. construction of
nanosensors for measuring heat production in living cells, and,
application of sub-nano-scale chemosensor for quantitative analysis
of microorganism by measuring the intracellular polyphosphate
species.

Bacteria Emulsion Group
Integration between bacteria and emulsion will promote the cleaner technology useful for industrial synthesis of bulk chemicals, pharmaceutical, agrochemical intermediates and food ingredients. As well as it can be useful for the bioremediation of those hydrophobic substances including oil spill treatment. Our research is approached from both chemical and biotechnological aspect, such as characterization of the bacteria emulsion system, improvement the emulsion stability as well as the investigation of bacterial cell viability and morphology. Bioconversion and bioremediation are the aim of our study.
